the Corner

Site Plan
Thanks to the desire to work with community and talent at SPSD, a local exterior design firm with a mission that includes supporting garden spaces and staying grounded in community, this site plan has been carefully laid out to fit the needs of our neighborhood and the vision of the Corner Orchard team.
The Corner is an invitation to enjoy a greenspace with your family and welcomes visitors with an open lawn and sensory garden. The central hub supports the community garden where residents may rent a space to cultivate their green thumbs and experience urban agriculture hands on. North of the garden, production rows and a greenhouse complete the farm with plenty of land to nurture a neighborhood CSA and host an apiary space for bees and their valuable harvest.

The core of the garden is ADA conscious and can be enjoyed by a person of any ability. David has worked with disabled and neurodivergent adults for years and will quickly remind you that any person is more likely to be disabled than to be a millionaire in their lifetime. A change in ability is central to life, and in most outdoor spaces, your ability to have access will change quickly depending on your physical or mental boundaries.
The team's goal is to recreate the Corner as an all entry pass to natural wonder. Smooth sloping paths and growing things that ignite all of the senses are the focus of the community space. Throughout the farm, a firm central pathway allows all visitors to have a first hand look at urban agriculture in motion.

As we continue to gain stakeholders in The Corner Orchard, we have started an interim garden on the western line of the farm site that will include a community raised bed portion and production rows of agricultural and ornamental products farther East. Through a generous donation from Texas Trees, the Orchard will be ringed with native canopy and fruit bearing trees.
